Project Management
The in-house translators know the clients' style guides by heart and make sure that our freelancers follow them, too. They continuously train and advise our vendors.
Besides editing text, we also provide freelancers with important feedback. This helps them understand what exactly they are doing wrong
Our quality control team makes sure that the translation is completed according to client's requirements — with correct terminology, number formats and punctuation marks used consistently. They check bilingual files using Verifika — a QA tool that is developed at Palex.
Our Quality Control team uses Verifika to check if translation contains no formal errors. If they cannot resolve any issues themselves, checkers raise queries for translators and editors.
Our DTP team will take care of document layout in any shape, form or language you may need. Palex can even typeset Arabic right-to-left content in Publisher.
If a translated document looks like a mess after Trados clean up, our DTP team can resolve it in minutes. They will make sure that text uses correct encoding, fonts and indents. For the layouts that contain a mass of wrong line breaks or hypenations, the DTP engineers will create a regular expression to fix them with a couple of clicks.
The localization engineers adapt products for the target region. They can change Caucasian family to an Oriental one in a photo or flash animation and also dub in new audio tracks with subtitles to videos in various languages.
With our localization engineers, any artwork looks as if it is originally created for the target region.
Project managers accept client orders, determine their requirements, and distribute tasks to various vendors. They keep track of projects to see that deadlines are observed, and also answer our linguists' questions and help them resolve any problems that may arise.
At least five separate people are required to translate a document into just one language. Localizing a document for ten languages means hundreds of unread messages every morning. Project managers from Palex answer all vendor's questions, turning to you on when it is really necessary
Languages
Palex specializes in translations for Russian, Ukrainian, Kazakh, Belarussian, Mongolian and other languages of the former Soviet Union. We also translate into European, Asian and Middle-Eastern languages.
Subject Areas
Palex translates a variety of content types — from wallpaper advertisements to chucker machine blueprints. We have especially profound expertise in the Life Sciences and Information Technologies.
Life Sciences
We localize CT scanner documentation for Brainlab, instructions for contrast injectors for ulrich medical, and clinical trials documentation for one of the world-known clinical trials solutions company.

Our in-house linguists with medical education control the quality of these translations. Where necessary, they consult with practicing professional physicians with doctoral degrees in medicine. We also arrange for special Subject Matter Expert Days, where we invite experts into our office and ask them to share their knowledge with the localizers.
Information Technologies
Our linguists have experience in translating user interfaces, apps documentation and web sites. They understand the difference between texts for users and instructions for administrators.

Palex supports the Continuous Localization model. If your client has added a new function and wants the text to be updated in Swedish, Dutch, Polish, Malay, Thai, Farsi and a dozen of other languages tomorrow, we will get it done within twenty-four hours.
Other Areas
Palex is ready to help in areas beyond medicine and IT. If you need to translate a site about thermal cameras or a code of conduct for staff members, our managers will evaluate the texts and select just the right people for the job. If they can't find resources for the job right now, we'll tell you what time it will take us to assemble the team.
Project Management
Every project manager at Palex has their own area of expertise. Our PMs spend years working with particular clients and know what they need. For some clients, every minute counts and they cannot afford any failed deadlines. Our managers will asign their tasks only to those vendors who always deliver on time. Other clients are ready to wait a little longer so we can use only preferred linguists who know ins and outs of the projects.
igor
Igor Ponamorev
Manages translation of marketing and multimedia content. Igor knows the importance of context and how to find it. To translate a three-word slogan, he will locate links to web sites or videos about the company and talk to the client to find the right information about their mission.
maria
Maria Shurygina
Responsible for all medical translations for LSPs. Maria understands the difference between cognitive debriefing and harmonization. She can assemble the right team for every project and organize the translation workflows. Maria makes sure that clinical trials and tomography instructions are translated by different linguists using separate workflows.
karolina
Karolina Shelepova
Works on Continuous Localization projects. Karolina ensures that user interface translations are delivered within twelve hours. She knows the translators' schedules and manages their workloads. If a linguist is about to fail deadline, she finds a replacement and gets the order completed on time.
Quality Management
We know how to create a translation that the client will appreciate. Our managers analyze texts in order to design the optimal workflow and select the right linguists. Experts evaluate translation quality using LQA. Our clients always know when their files will be ready and how much the project is going to cost.
Palex doesn't make any secret of our internal procedures. We are happy to share the experience with the entire community. Last year we created an online course on translation quality management. Thanks to the partnership with the Tomsk State University, this course is already available on Coursera. Enroll for free and see how we manage translation quality at Palex.

Value for Money
Palex managers assess our vendors on a regular basis. We know not only their rates, but the quality of their work on various projects. For every project, the manager assembles the most appropriate team for the client's needs. We will never bring in expensive marketing translators to translate simple help content. Palex works with the vendors who guarantee the highest level of quality at competitive rates.

Our Approach in Practice
Our quality management system, qualified staff, and database of tested and reliable vendors enable Palex to handle projects of all types and volumes. In 2019, we completed the largest project in the company's history.

We had to assemble our team just before Christmas when everybody was celebrating. Client developed a custom CAT tool that we had to study on our own. Translators asked hundreds of questions every day. Despite all that, we got the job done — saved money for the client and avoided significant delays or quality issues.
— Alena Dranishnikova, Project Manager
Budget savings for the client
For this large project with relatively simple content, our vendor managers discussed special prices with the freelancers. Project managers made sure that the workflow included only the required steps to avoid extra costs.
30%
Maximum delivery delay
Our managers kept strict control of deadlines, always keeping a pool of additional available vendors in reserve. If a translator stopped responding, that translator's files were transferred to another linguist within one working day.
2DAYS
LQA results at the project end
We failed some of the first client's LQA. To improve the quality, Palex managers replaced a portion of our vendors, prepared special instructions for others, and set out to check the files using a QA tool. By the end of the project, every submission received a clean Pass.

ISO Certification
Palex is certified both by ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 17 100 standards. Every year we undergo recertification and pass supervisory audits. Everybody is a part of that — from translators to our director. For us, the Quality Management System is more than a certificate we show to our clients. It's an opportunity to improve at what we do. That's why we conduct our own quarterly internal audits.
Palex Journal
Since 2002, Palex managers have accumulated a great wealth of knowledge. We just couldn't continue to keep all that to ourselves. So we created the Palex Journal — a blog about the everyday work of managers and linguists at a translation agency. People from Palex share their real-life stories in the posts. Managers tell how they learned to reach agreements with demanding clients. Coordinators explain how to stay calm if you need to deliver a dozen tasks in an hour after getting into the office.
FAQs
Palex headquarters is located in Siberia. Is it easy to work with you from Europe?
The work day for managers in our headquarters is shifted towards evening. They are available until 3 or 4pm CET. Messages that arrive later are answered by our coordinators in Kaliningrad, Russia’s westernmost city (CET+1). If you need us to support you during EST business hours just let us know and we will put together a team of managers available in your time zone.
Usually, we order translation and DTP from separate vendors. Can we trust Palex to take care of all localization stages?
Yes. Brother, Brainlab and other clients send us source files and get their typeset versions in 25 different languages. Engineers convert content into a bilingual format that CAT tools support. Linguists translate and edit text. The DTP team makes sure the translated document has the same look and feel as the original. Quality Control guarantees that all the client's requirements have been met. Project Manager supervises the process and makes sure the schedule for every step is kept.

Our DTP, Engineering and Quality Control teams work in the same office. They can discuss any issues in person, what safeguards the client against query bombarding. If the Quality Control team sees a wrong footer in the document, a DTP engineer will fix it in a hour. When managers are not sure how a bookmark should be formatted, they can get this information from a person next door.
If we order both translation and editing from you, how can you prove that at least two people worked on our project?
Upon request, the project manager will deliver to you two versions of the project files along with blind CVs of all the linguists. In addition, every year an outside auditor confirms that our services are in conformance with all the standards of ISO 17 100. That guarantees that at least two linguists work on every project we undertake.
